    DNA Testing Program
Kenilworth Park are proud to announce our involvement with DNA research and testing conducted on behalf of the Australasian Alpaca Breeders Association.  This industry initiative will mean that we can truly verify the lineage of our animals.

Hopefully longer term research will be able to identify gene types, including both those which produce desirable characteristics as well as those which result in breeding programs going down undesirable paths.

Obviously this is a very exciting path to pursue and one which, ultimately, should see dramatic improvements in the standard of animals produced in this country.

The photo (above left) shows the non-invasive collection method developed and tested at Kenilworth Park.  This method is far less distressing to the animals (and the operator) than the old blood collection method.

Success at Whittlesea Show

Kenilworth Park Gyspy Moth (daughter of Amy Johnson!) took out both its Class and Best Suri Fleece at the November Whittlesea Show.

Whilst KP Marengo and KP Ceberus followed it up with Reserve Champion awards in their age groups with Ceberus taking out the overall Reserve Champion Suri award.

Gypsy Moth  and Marengo were sired by Alejandro, whilst Ceberus is sired by Byron.  All three are from in-house lineages.  Both Marengo and Ceberus share our first ribbon winning female KP Currency Lass as their Dam.

Kenilworth Park Supporting Historic Motorsport

On October 1st, the newly formed Kenilworth Park Historic Racing Team made its debut appearance at the Wangaratta Vintage Speedway Classic.  Running a 1940 Ford V860 midget, USA 48, we were a part of an exciting weekend of historic motorsport, with the Speedway meeting timed to coincide with a major historic event at Winton Raceway.

Here Jeanette is all strapped in and ready for the first run of the evening.  We had to go to considerable trouble to find a car older than the driver !  more:

"DP" Comes to Kenilworth Park.

In line with our policy of using only proven male sires, who are homozygous to type, we are very excited to announce the arrival  of Australian Champion Suri (1998) Cedar House Desert Prince at Kenilworth Park.

We first saw Desert Prince at Pinjarra prior to the 1998 National Show, and I still have the photos which show the beautifully pencilled young macho.  His then owner Sandi Keane was bursting with pride in her boy, who went on to amply justify her considerable faith in him at the Nationals.

"DP" needs no introduction to coloured Suri breeders.  His registered progeny, around 150,  have taken out large numbers of class wins, and broad ribbons at numerous shows at all levels throughout Australia.  We are confident he will prove to be a real coup for both our own herd and those of our customers; in that we will not have to sacrifice either quality of lock architecture, lustre or fineness in the search for proven coloured genetics.

"The best coloured suri I have seen anywhere in the world"....  Dr Julio Sumar

What else could we add to that.

(Note: "DP" also stands at Pinjarra Alpaca Stud, Strathbogie).
